Nursing Shortage: Education in Ukraine?!?!

In response to a recent article about sending nursing students to the Ukraine to complete their training, I must say that that move is overkill to the extreme. Yes, there are shortages of nurses and yes, there is the problem of fewer nursing educators and training facilities. No one is necessarily disputing that fact. I am disagreeing with the drastic measures of sending American nursing students way from their homes for two years for training that they can do here stateside.

The medical community is cognizant of the fact that this nursing shortage is happening and they are taking steps to reverse the trend. It does take time to alter your course and map a new plan. One of the ways that they are addressing the shortage is through online nursing degree programs.

Since online distance learning is becoming a widely accepted path for higher education, it opens up a lot of possibilities for nursing students. One of the biggest reasons why there are not more nurses is because more and more people cannot live day to day without working a full-time job. Add marriage and kids to the mix and you get an almost impossible situation in which to attend nursing school and earn a degree.

Taking the online path to earning a nursing degree on the internet makes sense for a lot of people who want to further their education or perhaps change careers. There is no need to send groups of nursing students overseas away from their homes and families in order to educate them.

There are a several online universities that offer a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and even opportunities to earn a Master's degree too. Most programs generally follow a typical college semester, just as if you were attending a brick and mortar school. However, when earning an online nursing degree, you can study and complete assignments on your own time clock. You have the power of structuring your schedule, fitting in your studies around other responsibilities like jobs and children.

I just don't think that sending nursing students out of the country is conducive to bolstering the number of nurses and nursing educators in the United States. How about focusing on what can be done here instead? Let's beef up the online opportunities for nursing students and offer more ways to earn that degree online. Let's create our own educational opportunities instead of looking overseas. There are a lot of willing bodies out there who want to earn that degree, but the overseas training is just liable to scare a bunch of them off.

By advancing your nursing education, you can become an agent of change and a leader in your field.

Earning your advanced nursing degree online is easy! You will attain your advanced nursing degree when and where you have the time-at work, at home, it's up to you; it's all online.
