Minority Student Enrollment in Nursing Programs on the RiseGrowth of Minority Students Enrolled in Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master's, and Doctoral Programs in Nursing 2002 and 2011.
According to data from AACN, the number of minority students in all levels of nursing programs is on the rise. The enrollment figures from 2002 through 2011 show a marked increase in all levels of nursing education for minority students, with the most dramatic increase seen in Master’s-level programs. Through scholarships, grants and other incentives, online nursing school programs, state and local governments and hospitals are encouraging more minority students into the classroom in order to ultimately provide a diverse workforce of nurses within medical, research and educational facilities.
