NE Nursing Schools

Nursing Schools in Nebraska
Because of the rural nature of Nebraska, the nursing shortage within the state is expected to double by the year 2020, leaving countless citizens from newborns through the elderly without adequate access to health care, nutrition services and health education. Nebraska, while expansive and home to a rich, historical blend of people, has reported less than five RNs employed in over 10 counties, over 80 underserved areas and two medically underserved populations, specifically impacting the elderly and Hispanic populations within the state.

In order to address these unique problems within the health care force in Nebraska, the state participates in the Non-Licensure Compact (NLC) as well as provides loan forgiveness programs and scholarships to students that commit to working in underserved areas within the state for a designated amount of time.
