Nursing Schools in New Hampshire
Wedged between Vermont, Maine and Massachusetts, New Hampshire is one of several New England states that faces a unique struggle in the nursing shortage. Nursing schools and programs in New Hampshire are limited, and, as such, new nurses are continuing to pursue degrees and certifications in neighboring states, increasing the shortage of new graduates and creating a wide-reaching void for New Hampshire’s nurse retention.

In light of these circumstances, New Hampshire has joined the Non-Licensure Compact (NLC) for nurses that allows certified nurses from other states to work within New Hampshire without certification from the state. In addition, various grants and programs are being funded within the state’s  territory, including five medically underserved areas, that address the problems of children’s mental health and barriers to healthcare access such as economic and location.
