NJ Nursing Schools

Nursing Schools in New Jersey
With several nursing schools and programs to choose from, New Jersey may seem to have an edge on the nursing shortage within its state lines, yet the lack of nurse educators and programs within the state is a key reason for its nursing shortage. As such, the state of New Jersey has instituted a Nursing Initiative to help provide resources to recruit and retain nurses while also providing quality education programs to increase the nursing education faculty, thereby increasing the number of nurses effectively trained to provide healthcare within the state.

New Jersey’s underserved citizens include low-income, urban populations in 28 areas of the state, including children, women and the elderly. In addition, many of the nursing schools in New Jersey offer specialized certificates or programs for school nurses, one of the many types of nurses affected directly by the nursing shortage that touches the lives of children daily.
