WA Nursing Schools

Nursing Schools in Washington
Washington State has made great strides in reducing the impact of the nursing shortage on its residents. From passing laws that enable a Nurse Practitioner to fulfill many of the functions of a doctor to educational incentives for nurses to, Washington has seen less of an impact from the national nursing shortage than many other states and regions.

Low-income, migrant, and homeless populations within the state are still facing a lack of medical care, even as more nurses are working within the hospitals and clinics in Washington State. These populations require nurses that are trained in rural and community health specialties as well as urban-based primary care. Shortages are also expected in pediatric care, long-term health care, ambulatory care and nurse education.
